01 ♪ video/action ♪ wake up sleepyhead!
[The feed shows a nice view of absolutely nothing. There is, however, the sound of someone spitting. Very lovely. He just woke up with a mouthful of dead rotting leaves. His day is off to a great freaking start, that's what.]
Ugh, nasty! Ow--... ow... ow. [Don't let the nonchalance fool you. He's realizing he's alive. Taking in a deep breath, and letting it out.
He's alive.
... And also FREEZING COLD. But wait until he finds a way home! This is impossible, but maybe-- just maybe--]
Hahah... jeez, it's c-c-cold. Am I in K-Keterburg or something?
-- Hey, what's...
[And here's when he brushes the journal off. Hello, there's a half-naked redhead getting up close and personal, and turning it upside down, and then shaking it out a bit. What is this strange and mystifying technology? It sure as hell isn't his journal.]
Weird.
[Feeling something tickle his shoulder, he reaches over to brush it off. And then he notices the wings, red with gold tips just like his hair. He has wings. This is not a drill. Luke drops the journal in favor of screaming like the grown man he isn't.]
W-what the hell is going on!?
[NO LUKE DON'T PULL ON THOSE--] —OW! [Yeah, that hurt more than anything else in his life. Now he's curled up over his knees again, trying not to cry. He almost blacked out there.]
G-guess they're real...

... I think the original explanation was better. But I think I get it now. Thanks.
[He smiles a bit.] I'm Luke.
no subject
[He could tell Luke stories. Lots of stories, but seeing how he's so new, Ven'll keep his trap shut for now. Better to help ease him into the place first, after all!]
Anyway, the name's Ventus, but you can call me Ven.
[It's nowhere near as formal, after all.]

[He snuggles into the jacket a bit more, until just his nose sticks out. And maybe the point of an elbow.]
Ven. Thanks for the jacket. When I get to the village, I'll-- oh, wait. I don't have any money.
no subject
Don't worry about paying me! Everything's free here, and besides all that, there's a whole shop stuffed with clothes.
[He looks over his shoulder for a second.]
Want me to take you there? You'll probably wanna grab some shoes, anyway.
no subject
Everything's free...? How does that work?
[WHAT WAS THE POINT OF LEARNING HOW SHOPS WORKED, THEN?
But yeah, he perks up when Ven offers.]
Please. Not having any shoes just... sucks.
I am so sorry this is late D: darn school
[He pauses, and his eyes widen slightly.]
But I guess when it comes to our clothes, anyone could grab 'em in theory-- most people just know better. But uh, just in case, maybe we oughta pick up the pace.
[He points in the general direction of the shop before motioning to Luke. Ven's not gonna go too fast, but given Luke's lack of footwear, the sooner's the better, in his book.]
it's fine, i was busy the past week or so!
[It's okay, he'll just kind of scurry like a penguin in that jacket.]
Because... I'm pretty sure my old coat has some holes in it. It's really good material, but I don't think the tailor had months of seriously sword-fighting in mind when he made it.
finals seasons is the worst, and eek. I coulda sworn I already got this. Stupid inbox. >/
[Ven flutters his wings as he says this.]
Means you might have to fold them down at first, but I've seen people who prefer to keep their wings hidden. Guess it all depends on what you're comfortable with.
[The wings are a weak spot, after all. Leaving 'em exposed carries risks, though in his experience, keeping them crammed under armor leads to some nasty soreness later.]
I hope you did well!!
[His eyes are attracted to the movement briefly, but then he goes back to looking at their surroundings.]
I can't really control my wings yet. It might be good to have them out in the open, assuming I don't accidentally bump them into things.
If you keep them pinned down, won't they cramp up?
Still got two projects to do, but I'm almost there! Thank you. :)
[He stops midstep, taking a look over his shoulder.]
The best way I can describe it is like your brain's having to send out signals to two new body parts it's not used to having. And, well, if you live your whole life with just two arms and two legs, it's pretty weird having to account for two more limbs.
[Might be a bit of an understatement, actually, but after being stuck for four years, it'd probably be equally tough losing the things.
At any rate, it shouldn't take long before the first signs of civilization pop into view-- most notably, the multi story Community Housing complexes towering over some of the trees. Some smaller houses line the path along with bridges spanning over the river. If nothing else, they're on the right track.]
no subject
[He perks up as buildings appear. Finally, civilization!]
This is a pretty big village. [It's not like Engeve at all. They never had anything taller than the little mill.]
no subject
[He shrugs, squinting up at the sky with a hand over his forehead. The Battle dome oughta be pretty close by-- ah, there it is.]
'Course, it probably doesn't help that this place has some really advanced technology sitting around. See that big building over there? It's got this huge arena where you can simulate all kinds of cool stuff!
no subject
[OMG OMGOM GOMGO MGO MGOMG OGMG no seriously he's a huge tournament fanboy. He's already starting to get a jump in his step.]
What do you mean by simulate? Aren't coliseums for matches and stuff?
no subject
Which brings him back to reality. How to put this...?]
Sure, it's for matches, but the thing with the battle dome is that you can input a bunch of different settings to create a ton of different arenas. You could make it feel like you're under water, up in the sky... I'd say the sky's the limit, but that'd probably sound really silly.
no subject
[He doesn't know you can hover with those wings yet!]
no subject
[Ven even hops forward as he says this, turning around once he lands.]
Maybe once you're all dressed up, I can show you a thing or two.
[But first, they should probably keep focused. Last thing they need's to get sucked into the dome, waste like six hours, and still have to scrounge up some clothes.]
