[The feed shows a nice view of absolutely nothing. There is, however, the sound of someone spitting. Very lovely. He just woke up with a mouthful of dead rotting leaves. His day is off to a great freaking start, that's what.]

Ugh, nasty! Ow--... ow... ow. [Don't let the nonchalance fool you. He's realizing he's alive. Taking in a deep breath, and letting it out.

He's alive.

... And also FREEZING COLD. But wait until he finds a way home! This is impossible, but maybe-- just maybe--]

Hahah... jeez, it's c-c-cold. Am I in K-Keterburg or something?

-- Hey, what's...

[And here's when he brushes the journal off. Hello, there's a half-naked redhead getting up close and personal, and turning it upside down, and then shaking it out a bit. What is this strange and mystifying technology? It sure as hell isn't his journal.]

Weird.

[Feeling something tickle his shoulder, he reaches over to brush it off. And then he notices the wings, red with gold tips just like his hair. He has wings. This is not a drill. Luke drops the journal in favor of screaming like the grown man he isn't.]

W-what the hell is going on!?

[NO LUKE DON'T PULL ON THOSE--] —OW! [Yeah, that hurt more than anything else in his life. Now he's curled up over his knees again, trying not to cry. He almost blacked out there.]

G-guess they're real...

[Luke doesn't even finish pulling out a single feather. It hurts too much, so he's just laying there, feeling like he's going to pass out if he does something stupid like that again. If he's crying from the pain or the revelation of being alive he's definitely too cold to feel it.

Someone's voice penetrates the fog, though. He peers at Ven through messy red bangs. If he's shaking, it's because he's cold and kind of stupid and not because he's afraid or anything.]

S-- sorry, I didn't... I didn't know what they were.

[His wings fluff out a bit. He has like zero control over what they do, so he just ignores them for now.]

Where am I...?

[That's pretty sad when he's only known for his yelling. But that's life. REPLICA LYFE.

At this point, Luke's discovered the journal. He peers into it, trying to see if he recognizes the kid who said his name. He doesn't.]

T-that's me... Have we met?

[If he found an ipod he'd be the happiest kid alive. Alas.] Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a book that could do that much. It's pretty different.

In the village, right? I'll get there... eventually.

[Eventually. For now, he's just trying to sit tight and wait for his friends.]

Does the village have a name?

Luceti. Though I hate to say it, but this place isn't exactly a normal village either.

[Really, 'village' was sort of misleading at times, considering they were more like an enclosed human experimentation facility in function sometimes.]

[Luceti. He's never heard of it before...]

I could've guessed the wings aren't the only weird part.

-- Oh, sorry. I asked you all these questions without introducing myself... I'm Luke.

They're actually only the tip of the iceberg, here. [Though the wings were at least a good logical hint to some things...]

Fayt. Good to meet you, Luke.

[That's an unusual pause. And the mention of Lorelei gives Jade some concern.

He hastens his pace, striding intently into the forest.]

I'm afraid that you have the entirely wrong answer. Putting aside the matter of whether or not Lorelei shared your taste in clothing, I may as well cut to the chase. You're in an entirely different world now, Luke, and things don't quite work the same here at all.

[Lorelei. It has been easy to assume that Luke had come from some point in the past, like during his previous stay. But now the seed has been planted of the idea that Luke could be from the present. Back from what seemed to be death.

Jade's mind is racing with the possibilities as he advances. The possibilities, as well as hope.]

[Awww, Luke. At this rate, he's gonna get Ion all choked up, too. After all, the last time Luke met Ion here in Luceti, he hadn't been aware of Ion's fate. Even after returning a second time, he at least knew that Ion was alive and well in this world. This time was different.]

[The smile on his own face brightens, as if to match Luke's.]

Yes, of course. Most of us have been living under the same roof for a while now, so I imagine they'll be bringing you here soon enough. Though hopefully not before finding you a change of clothes at one of the shops in the village first.

I'm sure even if you are one of those guys will reach you in no time at all.

[GIVING HIS REASSURANCE!!!

before the question sombers his attitude a notch; it's not very notable if Luke isn't paying attention, though.]

Ah, well, if the theory of us going right back to the exact point we left is correct, no one will even notice I'm gone! [And if not? That's the one situation he'd rather not think about, though he's sure the council could keep a new emperor in order for a while.]

Tch. [Yeah right, replica.] How many feathers did you pull out?

[He's had experience with wing damage before, both personal and observational; Luke's answer could dictate how active he'll be for the next few days, and it'll tell Asch whether he needs to start walking.]

[He almost hugs the journal. Almost. His breath is still kind of shaky; after all, he's trying not to BREAK DOWN SOBBING like a little kid. Even if that's kind of what he is.]

Y-yeah. Otherwise they'll have to thaw me out when I get there.

[He's slowly learning this isn't Auldrant. And while that's disappointing... with his friends in front of him, what else can he possibly want?]

So everyone lives in a mansion?

[He lets out a little breath from shock, and then he's silent for a minute. It's written on his face, heart on his sleeve, like always.

He's not in Auldrant?

Then, his promise... his everything. What about getting back home? What about going back to see Mother? Is this just some cruel, temporary reprieve?]

Who did all of this? I thought we couldn't go to different worlds. I thought... you couldn't bring back people who...

[If only Luke was as perceptive as Peony. Maybe when he's older.]

Whoa. Really?

[That's crazy. But if Peony believes it...]

That's good to hear, though... [He's relieved.] Your people really love you. Oh, and your rappigs, too.

[Are they, now?]

[He might as well ask.]

Um... how long have you been here?

[They were a hint that the people holding them here didn't exactly have any scruples.]

Over a year now. [Yeaaaah.]

Time people stuck around here varies a lot, from a few months to several years.

[He glances over his shoulder. His wings are ruffled, giving him the appearance of a flustered baby bird. Maybe he did yank some feathers out. But he's already walked far enough away from where he landed that... it's hard to tell. He's got a great deal of down, which would be great if he could like, make a coat out of it.]

I'm not sure. I don't see any feathers missing, but... my wings look pretty awful.

[He pauses.]

Wait... I think I rolled on my back when I first woke up. That's probably it.

[Luke was thinking they just hated people who like clothes.]

That's... a really long time.

[He feels pretty good, not like he's going to disappear at any moment. And if Asch is here, then maybe everything's okay in that regard. Still, he should probably talk to Jade about it, when he's more settled in.]

No one's found a way to leave?

[Fayt personally thought they kind of got a kick out of watching people dart through the snow barely clothed when they dropped them in in winter.

He'd had the luck of being able to raid some bedsheets when he first arrived, though.]

Not yet. But someday we will, you know? We just need an opening.

[Like they're always on guard. What a way to live. And yet --]

So no one's given up yet. That's a relief.

We'll discuss this in person.

[He says somewhat sharply. He doesn't want this hope to be confirmed yet, after all. Not until he sees Luke with his own eyes.]

For now, let it suffice to say that there apparently is no one who is exempt from this world's pull, alive or otherwise.

[Okay, that gets a small laugh.]

I think "mansion" might be something of an overstatement. The house isn't that big. It can feel a little crowded at times, but it's been really nice living together with everyone here...

["Like a family" goes unsaid, but he's certainly thinking it, even if he doesn't really have a frame of reference to go by. For all the bad things that happen here, he just can't imagine calling anywhere else "home" anymore.]

[Well, who wouldn't rush to save their friend from freezing to death? Besides he knows Jade considers Luke like a friend of sorts too. But onto more positive thinking--]

I don't see why not. The lot of you are world heroes. And speaking of my rappigs, my cute Jade is here.

[Though it hurts, Luke's response doesn't exactly come as a surprise. Of course he doesn't remember. It was probably too much to hope for that he would, especially when he hadn't remembered the last time either.]

You don't remember me at all?

[He knows that Luke doesn't, but he just wants to be sure.]

[He shakes his head slowly, trying not to agitate his headache further.]

No... sorry. Are you from Malkuth?

[He's got dark skin and light hair and looks a little like Guy. It's possible.]
